What my classes are like

My classes provide the opportunity to challenge yourself, to feel a greater sense of connection to yourself and to become inspired by the practices of yoga, whilst working in a way that encourages you listen to and better understand your body.

My journey into yoga

I had the good fortune to stumble across yoga in 2009, whilst studying French and Philosophy at the University of Nottingham. Since my first yoga class, I became aware of the powerful effect of yoga practice on my mental state and feel an immense gratitude for this practice, which has completely changed my life. It is this feeling of gratitude that motivates me to teach.

My study and credentials

In 2010 I began practising Ashtanga yoga with Level 2 Authorised teacher Paul Kleesmaa and upon my return to Leeds I began daily practice with Level 2 Authorised teacher Joey Miles.

I have travelled to Mysore, India, on four occasions, to study with Sharath Rangaswamy at the KPJAYI, the source of the Ashtanga method. I have also been assisting in Joey’s morning Mysore-style Ashtanga classes since 2013.

I have been certified to teach by the British Wheel of Yoga and Yoga Alliance, having completed a two-year alignment focused Hatha Yoga training with Joey Miles and Anna Asbhy at TriYoga London.

I began practising meditation in 2010 and since beginning Vipassana meditation (in the style of S.N. Goenka) in 2011 I have completed a 10-day silent meditation course annually and continue to maintain a daily meditation practice. I have also studied with former monk and renowned philosophy teacher Carlos Pomeda with whom I have been introduced to meditation practices from a number of different schools of yoga.
