What my massages are like

It varies depending on the individual client’s needs, but generally my massages are deep and firm in order for them to be remedial however I always operate within the parameters of a client’s pain threshold. A massage with me can promote relaxation, bring an awareness to the body, stretch soft tissue, allow time to yourself to focus on the breath and to calm the parasympathetic nervous system.

My journey into massage

As a competitive swimmer I would spend hours on the poolside rubbing the shoulders of my team mates to release muscular tension. Following a career in corporate training I did a massage course and have never looked back. After an accident breaking 18 bones including my neck and vital right hand I used yoga, soft tissue work and hydrotherapy to rehabilitate myself. This has heavily influenced my approach to working with and not against the body in a collaborative style.

My study and credentials

I have been involved in Sports & Remedial Massage since 2003, working as the lead therapist at Northern Ballet as well as with rehabilitating triathletes after injury. I have my own private practice and tutor Sports & Remedial Massage courses at the University of Leeds as well as Deep Tissue Massage workshops here at Yoga Kula. Combining training and massage satisfies my desire to help other people through pain.
