Sports & Remedial Massage is the assessment and manipulation of soft tissues for the prevention of injury. This maintains good physical condition and health through improving muscle tone, promoting relaxation, stimulating circulation and producing therapeutic effects on all systems of the body.
Suitable for those with aches & pains from both sport and non-sports related activities, Harriet treats both acute (sudden onset) and chronic (long standing) injuries from spasms to general tightness.

Harriet works with everyone from injured professional athletes to office workers with postural problems, to help correct issues you may be having that stop you from carrying out everyday activities and put you on the right path to pain relief. Although it can be painful there is the facility to switch off and relax by focusing on your breathing. Pain perception is a very personal experience so collaborating with you is fundamental to making her soft tissue work effective. Harriet will adapt the depth of pressure for each individual using a pain scale which achieves great rewards, her treatment focuses on specific areas of pain/soreness but also looks at why this structurally may have come about by working on associated tightness.
Even though the name implies a sporting clientele, Sports & Remedial Massage has benefits appropriate for all, including:

– Reduces recovery time by relieving soreness
– Treatment and prevention of injuries
– Boosts performance
– Promotes muscle tone
– Increases range of movement

To be injured and in pain can have debilitating consequences, both on your physical and mental wellbeing. The physical and psychological rewards from Sports & Remedial Massage works on normalising the soft tissue both at a superficial and deep level.

Harriet has over a decade of experience as a Sports & Remedial Massage Therapist within the sporting and entertainment industry. Alongside a private practice she has developed and tutors Sports & Remedial Massage courses at the University of Leeds and Deep Tissue Massage workshops here at Yoga Kula.
