Rocket and Restore.

Friday 16th February

A combination of the dynamic, energising, lively Rocket practice and restorative, deep relaxation, this workshop will be the perfect way to kickstart your weekend. Rocket yoga is made up of a range of dynamic postures from the Ashtanga sequences and is practiced at a faster pace than most other yoga classes so you will get a good cardio workout and create an internal warmth that will help improve your flexibility. The session will include some pairs work and use of props to help you access a range of more challenging postures such as handstands, forearm stands and arm balances. The sequence will help you build core and upper body strength, both of which will support you in your regular yoga practice.

What my classes are like

Always inspired by my own time on the mat, my classes are designed to support people wherever they are on their yoga journey. I enjoy offering modifications to support individual needs and encouraging people to take it at their own pace. I always try to create a focused yet fun environment; we work hard, giggle and relax!

My journey into yoga

I first came across yoga in 2000 when I moved to Leeds from Wigan but it wasn’t until 2007 when a car accident left me with neck and shoulder issues that my interest turned into a passion. Practicing a range of hatha, Ashtanga and Rocket yoga not only helped with my injury by building up my strength but it made me feel fantastic. I began to realise the benefits regular practice has on the mind, body and spirit. Yoga, particularly the wonderful Ashtanga system, has been a constant in my life since then.

My study and credentials

I completed my 200-hour It’s Yoga teacher training qualification in August 2011 and have been teaching regular weekly classes ever since. I attend workshops with many respected teachers such as David Swenson and Matthew Sweeney. I have a regular Ashtanga yoga practice under the guidance of KPJAYI Level 2 authorised teacher Joey Miles and also enjoy studying with Marie Hallager Andersen at Kula’s early morning Mysore practice.
